Department of Sociology

About/History

Adıyaman University Department of Sociology was established by the de facto founder Assoc. Dr. Bekir KOCADAŞ and accepted its first students and started providing teaching in the 2008-2009 academic year. Assoc. Prof. Dr.Bekir KOCADAŞ has been the head of the Department of Sociology since the establishment of the department in 2007. As of 2020, 1 Assoc. Prof., 3 Asst. Prof., 5 Res. Asst. Dr., and 3 Res. Asst. are working in the Department of Sociology.

Mission & Vision

One of the main objectives is to develop the capacity of students to understand social events and to produce critical solutions. Another goal is to provide a broad cultural background as well as an education that covers the basic theoretical issues and research methods of sociological analysis. Also, the department aims to train sociologists who developed social responsibility and have the necessary knowledge and skills to understand and explain the social realities of Turkey.
