Department of Chemistry

About/History

Department of Chemistry was established in 2001 as affiliated to Inonu University and in 2006 it became affiliated with Adıyaman University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Our department started teaching in the 2008-2009 academic year. In chemistry department, there are five primary research areas: Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. There are 4 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professor in our department.

Mission

The mission of our department is to train researchers and practitioners who can adapt to the competitive order of the modern world, have high self-confidence, strong entrepreneurial aspect. In addition, it is to be aware of the problems faced by humanity, to make researches on these issues, to produce projects and to contribute to the development of the country by transforming the results into technology.

Vision

Our vision is to educate chemists who will be successful anywhere on the world, to create a competitive environment to bring chemistry education and research to an equivalent level with the world's qualified universities, to make new research with its research infrastructure and competent teaching staff, to produce information and to present this information to the benefit of humanity.

Message from the Head of Department

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry

The academic staff of our department aims to educate the chemists and scientific leaders of the future with an assertive and innovative education approach.

Our students can take courses given by various academics from five divisions of the department, namely Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. They can choose any of these fields and continue their postgraduate education.

Chemistry is recognized as an important branch of science for basic and applied sciences. Fields such as molecular biology, biotechnology, medicine, pharmaceutical chemistry, environment, energy, food, textile, materials science, and the automotive industry are directly linked to the science of chemistry. Our students can work in all of these areas mentioned. Therefore, we see our students as an investment for the future. By fostering dynamic experiential learning and research opportunities as well as promoting life-long learning under the guidance of a dedicated world-class faculty, we help our students prepare for their future employment and study.
