About/History

Adıyaman University Department of Art History was established in 2007 and started to accept students at the undergraduate level as of the 2008-2009 academic year.

Mission

The aim of the Art History Undergraduate Programme is to train art historians who are equipped with artistic and cultural knowledge and values, who are conscious of transmitting artworks, movable and immovable cultural assets to future generations and who can take an active role in spreading this consciousness.

Vision

Increasing the quality of education by supporting it with contemporary information technologies, contributing to raising awareness of artistic and cultural values in students, and ensuring that these values ​​are adopted and protected by our students and thus by our people.

Message from the Head of Department

Adıyaman University Department of Art History is a department that examines artworks from the prehistoric ages, when they first started to be formed, to the present in the light of their development and historical process. For this purpose, in our department, it is aimed to provide students with an effective view of art by having art history education within a broad cultural framework, to train individuals and researchers who can be effective in protecting and evaluating art work and immovable cultural assets, and the structure of education has been shaped accordingly.
