Adıyaman University Department of Turkish Language and Literature was established in 1998 as a subordinate of İnönü University Adıyaman Faculty of Arts and Sciences. It started accepting students in the academic year of 1999-2000. In 2006, it was affiliated to Adıyaman University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Evening education program of the department was opened in 2008-2009 academic year
